9/11 Remembrance Service
& Dedication
of the Warren County
Emergency Services Memorial
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying …Be
thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are
assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. Ez. 38:1,7
Construction of the Memorial Site:
A ceremonial ground-breaking was held
at the site on July 19th with representatives from each of the
organizations being honored:
Pennsylvania State Police
Warren County Law Enforcement
Warren County Fire Services
Warren County EMS Providers
Warren County Fire Police Association
Construction began the following day. The
water level at the lake was dropped to allow a retaining wall to be placed
at the lakeside of the patio.
WCMPark staff did all site preparation and formed the areas needed for
concrete. Marv Ross and his workers donated their time and we had the
outer border of the memorial site! Form-boards were donated by Oneida
Lumber, labor by Segel and Son & IA Construction donated the gravel. The majority of the bricks
were donated by John & Cathy Zawacki and Whitmire Block. Heavy rain
delayed the project several times, but the last brick was laid on Friday,
September 8, 2006 – just in time for the Dedication Ceremony to be held
the following Monday.
The construction of this site would not have been possible without our
wonderful ‘partners’ in this project. We gratefully acknowledge their
contributions.

This memorial is dedicated, first of all, to our
Heavenly Father who inspired it, designed it, provided the donations to
pay for it, and gave us the ability and assistance to build it…. Thank
You, Father for giving us these organizations and the dedicated people who
comprise them – for gifting each of them with the talents and abilities
that they need in whatever emergency situation they may face – and for
creating a spirit of cooperation between all of these organizations in
their service to the communities of Warren County.
We want to personally and corporately thank the
members of these organizations who respond to emergency, danger and
disaster situations across Warren County. Your consistent dedication to
the highest standards of excellence in your chosen field have made our
safety and peace of mind possible. We firmly believe that the emergency
responders of Warren County are among the finest in the state, and we
dedicate this Emergency Services Memorial to them.
Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001,
two symbols of America’s unity and strength became predominant – The
American Flag, which was hung at the WTC by firefighters shortly after the
attacks – and the Iron Cross, which was found in the rubble. We have
included those elements here – the flag overhead, the cross in the patio
design - as reminders that God and Country are supremely important and
worthy of our sacrifice, regardless of what that sacrifice might be. The
firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical responders and
fire police officers – regardless of their position as paid or volunteer –
consistently sacrifice their time, expertise, and in extreme conditions –
their health and lives -- to respond to Warren County emergencies, large
and small. It is our hope that this memorial site and the flags that fly
on high will be a constant reminder to our citizens to support these
organizations with their donations, prayers and appreciation.
